General Information :

Department of Translation and Interpreting Studies at Qafqaz University was opened in the Academic year 2004-2005.  The goal of the department is to train professional translators and interpreters on the  socio-political ,economic, scientific-technical , literary and cultural spheres  in accordance with the requirements of modern time. The rich experience of a number of foreign countries and Azerbaijan  in the related field has been taken into consideration while preparing the Curriculum courses and programs of the Department. While training the students for their future career, special focus  is given to the teaching of necessary practical and theoretical knowledge , modern computer technologies, two foreign languages as well as to the teaching of modern scientific outlook , ethics and aesthetics . In addition to learning English and Azerbaijani  languages, our students have the opportunity to learn German language within 4 years of their Academic study.

During the first two years of undergraduate education , Students become familiar with the development of language skills , the syntactic  ,  linguistics and cultural differences between Azerbaijani and English languages as well as the practical skills regarding the process of translation. The program focuses on the terminology of various subjects , such as economics, law , socio-political issues, medicine, literature, scientific and technical texts , international relations , culture, and media and communication.  In the last two years , priority is given to applied-translation.
